how it started…
Notably, during the 3rd and 4th editions of Droidcon Kenya, we observed significant growth in the Flutter community, both locally and at the conference. The increasing number of Flutter-related sessions and attendees evidences this growth. In 2023, Droidcon Kenya received 67 Flutter submissions, of which 17 were selected—comprising 12 sessions, 3 workshops, and 2 lightning talks. Inspired by this momentum, we decided to introduce Fluttercon to Africa, aligning with the trend of other Droidcons worldwide.
We were thrilled to host Africa's inaugural Fluttercon Kenya in 2024, followed by a successful 2nd edition in 2025 that saw Fluttercon's share of attendance grow to 34.2%, with Flutter submissions (92) surpassing Android submissions (89) for the first time. This growth demonstrates the healthy momentum of the Flutter ecosystem in Sub-Saharan Africa.
